IEEE Sections Congress 2011 & Fun Stuff in San Francisco

Sep

I had the distinct honor of attending IEEE Sections Congress. Sections Congress is only held every 3 years and brings together IEEE members from all over the world to set the direction of IEEE, engage is networking, and get some serious training. Since it is only held every 3 years they tend to pull out all the stops. They had a few speakers that I found to be very outstanding. Another reason I love my Camry Hybrid: NH -> NY -> NH = 1 tank of gas

Spring is coming at the new house! I am very excited about the garden coming alive and everything we get to work on outside. Neil took a bunch of pictures that showcase the crocuses, daffodils, tulips, and even the eyes of the peonies! The fauna is also waking up and aside from the turkeys, chipmunks, and squirrels, Penny and I startled a few deer in the backyard early one morning this week. Life is good at the new house. :-)

Vegas & Miami

Feb

I went out to Las Vegas for work, so Neil came out to join me for a few days afterward. We ended up hiking in Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon and going to see Phantom of the Opera and O (Cirque du Soleil). After that, Neil had a conference in Miami, so we flew there and I hung out around Miami while he was at the conference. I visited Kampong, part of the National Botanical Garden, and Everglades National Park where I saw 21 gators!
